SELECTION PROCESS: Who speaks at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo?
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo is host to a variety of speakers including consultants, industry experts, authors, writers, product engineers and power users.

SELECTION PROCESS: What are the responsibilities of a LinuxWorld Conference & Expo speaker?
ALL speakers MUST turn in the required presentation materials. In creating presentations, speakers must follow a set of guidelines provided by show management. The LinuxWorld Conference program is not an opportunity to use canned marketing pitches. It is an opportunity to address substantive issues in a proactive manner. Vendors should not regard a speaking position at LinuxWorld as a marketing opportunity, but rather a chance to show leadership, to describe their strategic plans and directions, and to make significant industry announcements. Additional questions about submitting materials should be directed to the conference manager.

SELECTION PROCESS: How does one apply for a speaking position at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo?
Approximately 6-7 months prior to the event, the Speaker Proposal Form is available on the event web site. Guidelines and instructions are listed for how to submit the form. All forms must be submitted online, and follow the posted guidelines.

SELECTION PROCESS: When are selected speakers notified?
LinuxWorld conference management will begin notifying speakers via email approximately 4-months prior to the event. The confirmation email will include a detailed list of instructions regarding presentation guidelines and other logistic considerations that are designed to help speakers ensure a successful speaking engagement.

SELECTION PROCESS: What are the benefits of being a Conference Faculty Member?
The benefits of being a Conference Faculty Member are substantial. To review the entire list, please see Conference Faculty Benefits.

SELECTION PROCESS: Why are panel discussions limited to 4 participants total?
Panel discussions are limited to 4 participants total, including the moderator, to ensure that each participant has adequate time to contribute to the discussion and address the needs of the audience.

SELECTION PROCESS: Why do speakers and panelists have to be confirmed by the date set by conference management?
All speakers and panelists are subject to approval and must be confirmed by the date set by Conference Management. This helps ensure adequate marketing exposure for them and the session, their inclusion on the Web site, in the on-site printed conference materials. Also, this ensures that all Conference Faculty Members have adequate time to review the logistical information regarding their speaking engagement so they are well prepared when they arrive onsite.

CONFIRMED SPEAKERS: What is the Speaker Office?
The Speaker Office is designed to give you a chance to prepare for your sessions, rest and relax throughout the week, and collaborate with other speakers. It is for this reason that the Speaker Office only allows access to Speakers. All Speakers and Guests can pick up their badges here though. Guest Passes can be picked up in the Speaker Office either by you or your guest. To arrange a guest pass, please see the next question.
