Global Initiative Manager, The Linux Foundation.
John Cherry has been with OSDL (and now the Linux Foundation) for the
past five years and has been involved in accelerating the use of linux
in various markets. Currently, John is the initiative manager for the
Linux Foundation Desktop Linux workgroup as well as the Linux Foundation
Mobile Linux workgroup. Prior to that, he managed the Carrier Grade
Linux (CGL) global initiative. John has been working on enterprise
computer systems for over 25 years and has developed system software for
companies such as Floating Point Systems, Sequent Computer Systems, and
IBM. Because of John's work with the global Linux initiatives, John was
recently recognized by eWeek as #50 in the "Top 100 Most Influential
People in IT".
