David Abercrombie manages the global host intrusion prevention line for server security for IBM Internet Security Systems, Inc. With more than twelve years of server and host security experience, Abercrombie is responsible for ideation, development and delivery of host intrusion prevention and virtualization products to the security market space. He is currently involved in the corporate open source and virtualization strategies to provide the next generation of business security solutions.
Before leading the host-based protection and vulnerability assessment product lines, Abercrombie provided his technical expertise as a technical product manager and offer engineer within IBM ISS. He worked internationally as the subject-matter expert for host security products, including all field enablement and analysis regarding future product direction and product customization for the company's leading customers. Abercrombie led cross functional engineering, field sales, and marketing teams to develop the market requirements that served as the foundation for the company's current product direction and market leadership.
Prior to joining the IBM ISS team, Abercrombie began his career with Arthur Andersen as a network operations manager. He worked firsthand with implementing cross departmental IT infrastructures including managed technical deployment of Web-based training applications, professional services, security, database administration, performance troubleshooting and disaster recovery planning.
Abercrombie holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Georgia State University with continuous studies at Georgia Tech University. He resides in Alpharetta, Georgia with his wife and son.
