Software Freedom Law Center.
 James Vasile is associated with the Software Freedom Law Center, where
he works on all aspects of assisting free software and open source
projects. He does code audits, reviews code submission processes,
handles GPL compliance, and anything else free software projects
need. Along the way, he does a fair bit of management consulting,
community-building, mediation, and providing general advice. Having
seen the inner workings of innumerable free software projects, he
knows what works and how to get things done.
He holds a Juris Doctor (JD) from Columbia Law School, where he was a
member of the law review and a Stone Scholar. He also has a bachelor's
degree in political science and economics from Fordham University. He
spent several years in the litigation department of Cravath, Swaine &
Moore, where he worked on a range of cases and dealt with a variety of
new media and technology issues. James has also contributed code and
documentation to numerous Open Source and Free Software projects.
James has a long history of involvement in volunteer and non-profit
efforts to better the communities in which he lives and plays. He
currently serves in an advisory capacity on the boards of Circle Arts
and Open Source Matters. He was also a founding board member of the
Society for Experimental Arts and Learning.
