As we all know Linux began as nothing more than Linus Torvalds’ hobby. From these humble beginnings Linux has grown organically to become a force on the server, a desktop option with ever growing allure, and the choice of developers and hobbyists alike as an embedded operating system in a plethora of devices.
It is in this spirit that the LinuxWorld Expo team is proud to introduce a new exhibit hall section, aptly named the Linux Garage. The Linux Garage is a themed area of the show floor that pays homage to the tinkering spirit inside every successful Linux developer.
The goal of the Linux Garage is to provide a forum for the creators of innovative devices that employ Linux as an embedded OS. We are looking for small or pre-production projects that hearken back to the earliest days of Linux while at the same time giving us a glimpse into the future at the types of Linux-based gadgets we might all be using soon. Exhibiting in this area is free and space is limited; if you have a Linux Gadget to show off that fits in with these themes we encourage you to apply for a parking space in the Linux Garage!
